The Honorable

House of Representatives

Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Representative,

I am writing to urge you to oppose government takeover of our health care system.  America is the gold standard for health care treatments—not Europe, Canada, or anywhere else in the world.  People from other countries come to the U.S. because we have such state-of-the-art medical care.

The health care bill includes the biggest takeover of health care in American history.  The cost of the health care legislation is staggering.  The Congressional Budget Office projected that it will result in a $239 billion deficit, a disturbing thought considering that most hardworking taxpayers are currently facing very difficult financial circumstances.

I’m deeply concerned about the “public option”.  It will ensure the eventual government takeover of our health care system, as private insurers simply cannot compete with the government.  It will essentially mean the end of private insurance.

It is alarming to think that a government board would have the power to determine what medical treatments will be allowed for my family.  Doctors will be prevented from providing tailored health care and instead will be required to provide one-size-fits-all treatments.  This means that all Americans, especially the elderly, disabled, and terminally ill, will have less access to the kind of health care they need.

Even more distressing, the health care reform bill includes government-coerced euthanasia for the elderly by mandating end-of-life counseling, such as lecturing them about the right to hasten their own death by refusing nutrition.

Health care legislation should not create a fundamental right to abortion in America.  Taxpayers should not be required to subsidize abortion in American health plans.  This legislation is the Freedom of Choice Act by stealth.

Again, thank you for your attention to this important issue.  It is my sincere hope that you will oppose the government takeover of health care.  I would appreciate a response concerning your views on this crucial legislation.

Sincerely,
