Congresswoman Bachmann’s “Majority Tracker” Helps Constituents Keep Tabs on the U.S. House

Representative Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) recently launched her own blog, titled, “The Majority Tracker: Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s Detailed Account of the 111th Congress,” in order to keep those outside the “beltway” in the loop about what’s happening on Capitol Hill.
Congresswoman Bachmann describes the site in its “about” section, saying:
“This site will serve as a time line for the 111th Congress where you can not only track the key bills acted upon by the Democrat majority but also read about the amendments and alternatives offered by the minority. Sometimes those Republican alternatives are given mere lip service or not considered at all — so even the most ardent C-SPAN watcher might not catch them! The site’s chronological breakdown of legislation and votes will give you the complete news that the media doesn’t always report. If it happens in the U.S. House, my staff and I will make sure you know about it!”
The Majority Tracker’s first entry appeared on January 6. In it, Rep. Bachmann discusses the inspiration for the blog, namely, the new rules package approved by the House of Representatives, which effectively silence the minority party. In the Senate, the minority has opportunities through procedural efforts to at least slow down the steamrolling of legislation by the majority.
Other issues on the site include the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, SCHIP, the DTV (digital television) Delay Act, and the current economic “stimulus” package.
Bachmann’s Majority Tracker is a great resource for anyone wanting to get a bird’s eye view of the U.S. House of Representatives straight from the source. You can check out her blog by clicking here.
