Open the doors! Let us in!

Secret meetings. Behind closed doors. That's where Congress is wheeling and dealing. And this after Pres. Obama promised that negotiations on a health care bill would be transparent, covered by C-SPAN. The meetings would be open for all to see which politicians made sweetheart deals, he said.

"I am going to do it all on C-SPAN so that the American People will know what's going on," Obama said at a Town hall meeting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, March 31, 2008.

But now, as Congress crafts a government take-over of our health care, they don't want us to watch. Why? Clearly they know Americans won't like what Obama and Democrats in Congress intend to foist on us.

And they don't want us to see the bribing-to-get-votes in action.

Sweetheart deals like the $300 million "Louisiana Purchase" that got Mary Landrieu's vote. The "Cornhusker Kickback" for Ben Nelson of Nebraska. The "U Conn" plunder for Chris Dodd of Connecticut. The "Gator Aid" for Florida's Bill Nelson. The "Iowa Pork" for Tom Harkin.

Brian Lamb of C-SPAN is now turning up the heat. He's imploring Senate and House leaders to let his cameras in on the final negotiations. Live up to your promises, he challenged.

Let's add fuel to that fire.

President Obama, Senator Reid, Speaker Pelosi,

Health care reform will impact every American. We were promised transparency — that negotiations would be open for all to see. If you're not ashamed of what you are doing, if you believe it is good for the country — then open the doors! Let us in!

If you continue in secret, you're proving that this bill is not worthy of the light of day.

Sincerely,
