Abortion: America’s Ultimate Crime Against Women

Monday, September 23rd, 2013

weepingwomanIt’s a gruesome story that’s been in the news for almost a year now.  Outrage was fanned the world over after four Indian men brutally raped and killed a woman during a bus ride in New Delhi.  I was angry when I saw the reports, and you probably were, too. Now the four men have been sentenced to death, and while justice was achieved in India, there are countless women here in America for whom it has not yet been accomplished.

Let’s be honest.  Thousands of women are being victimized in abortion clinics every day right here in our own home country.  Pregnant mothers are left emotionally and physically scarred after visiting any one of countless clinics like Kermit Gosnell’s, scattered throughout America.  It seems that we almost daily hear about additional abortion clinics being investigated or closed in virtually all corners of the country, because of their unsafe, unsanitary, inhumane conditions.  You can be sure there are hundreds more not yet discovered, but operating just out of public view.  At these “houses of horror,” women endure procedures which are violent and traumatic, not only for the children inside them, but for their own bodies as well.

In a recent interview, pro-life advocate Chelsen Vicari spoke with Ashley Granger, a 29-year-old mother who had an abortion when she was a single, confused college student.  (Granger is now an outspoken activist for the unborn, widely known for her powerful testimony at the Texas State Capitol when pro-abortionists began chanting, “Hail Satan,” behind her.)  She told Vicari that, although everyone in her life at the time said that the abortion would be a painless and easy procedure, the horrible experience still sticks with her to this day.  Despite the deceptions of abortion clinic staff, Ashley confirmed that the procedure itself was a violent one: “A gentle suction is what [the abortionists] described it as. Let me tell you, there was nothing gentle about it.”  The machine used to suck her child from her body “is twenty times more powerful than your household vacuum.  If that’s what they’re calling ‘gentle,’ that’s not gentle.”

As gruesome as the procedure was, Ashley knows from personal experience that the effects of an abortion don’t end after the procedure is complete.  At the clinic, Ashley was simply guided to a recliner to deal with the pain, surrounded by other sobbing women who were devastated after the death of their child.  That emotional pain and devastation lasted years for Ashley.  She admitted that the grief pushed her toward alcohol and substance abuse, and even to attempt suicide three times.  Only through the transforming grace of Jesus Christ has she found healing.

Ashley is not alone in what she went through.  Indeed, each and every mother who undergoes an abortion suffers profound wounds that are traumatic and long-lasting, even when the abortions go “according to plan.”  But there’s no fanfare for the woman who falls victim to such an atrocity.  There are no media reports, no protests, and no cries for justice — only another woman marred, her conscience seared, her body maimed, and her life very possibly ended.

Answer me this: How sick is it that we (supposedly “civilized” Americans) are ready to jump to the defense of women a world away but are too often deaf to the cries of the women victimized right here at home? Maybe it’s because these crimes are too close to home and too gruesome for us to think about for long.  Maybe it’s because it’s too shameful for us to acknowledge that we’ve ignored them for years on end that we go right on pretending they are not happening at an alarming rate right in our own backyard.  And somehow, we’re okay with these lies.

Yet, let me be clear at the risk of stating the obvious.  The grievous brutality of abortion will not disappear as long as we who claim to despise barbaric violence against women simply go on ignoring these vile acts right under our noses.  Containment and appeasement won’t work.  Guised under “women’s health,” the perpetrators will perpetuate their abhorrent work unabated.    No matter how hard we hope for “change,” we have to realize that we have become a part of the problem through our own complacency.

Evil is like an open flame.  If we let it continue burning, it goes right on spreading and consuming and destroying.  To put out the wildfire of abortion and stop its devastating effects on American women, we can’t ignore it and hope it simply goes away.  We must actually oppose it for the evil that it is in order for it to be halted.  Our only choice is to be honest and admit its existence, to pray fervently against it, and to advocate for meaningful change in our culture and in our laws.

Abortion threatens to ravage our society.  It will gut our country, leaving America as a burned-out shell of the moral and virtuous nation we once were, if we go right on overlooking it as we have decade after decade.  It doesn’t have to be this way, though.  If we as Americans raise our collective voice in opposition to this outrage, we have the power to end this humanitarian crisis occurring day in and day out right here at home.

A Case of Mistaken Identity

Thursday, June 28th, 2012

In Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s latest end-of-year appeal, Cecile Richards wrote, “It seems like every day the attacks on women’s health get louder and more extreme. … Women and men across the country are beginning to realize just how dangerous our opponents are, just how extreme their agenda truly is.”

Extreme?  Please.

We’re not the ones aiding and abetting child rapists by telling their victims to lie about their age so they can get an abortion.  In 2008, Live Action exposed your staff’s rampant sexual abuse cover-ups and blatant medical misinformation — in fourteen different states!

We’re not the ones aiding and abetting sex traffickers. In February 2011, Live Action caught your Planned Parenthood of New Jersey manager side-stepping the law by coaching a man and woman who were posing as sex traffickers on how to be as “legit as possible” in obtaining secret abortions and contraception for their underage female sex slaves.

And we’re not the ones encouraging women to have an abortion based on the sex of the child. recently exposed a Planned Parenthood Chapel Hill clinician supporting a mother seeking sex-selective abortion of baby girls in the hopes of having a baby boy instead.

And yet, we’re extreme? No, that’s YOU, Miss Richards. That’s YOUR Planned Parenthood.  We’re not extreme; YOU are.

Hollywood’s Roman Road

Monday, July 12th, 2010

I am the mother of a thirteen-year-old daughter.  What I know, and other moms will agree, is that thirteen-year-olds are children.  One minute you get small glimpses into the young women they will someday become, but the vast majority of the time they are still wonderfully innocent and childlike.

The news that the Swiss have sided with narcissistic Hollywood’s pressure to release child rapist Roman Polanski and refuse to extradite him to the United States to face criminal charges for drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977 makes me beyond angry.  Who are these people?

Many of the Hollywood A-listers rallied behind the film director as an accomplished artist who shouldn’t have to face these charges.

Talk show host and outspoken actress Whoopi Goldberg said what Polanski did wasn’t “rape-rape.”

You be the judge.  Roman Polanski lured the 13-year-old into a hot tub, but she decided to get out. He told her to go lay down on the bed and kissed her, but she refused.  He then raped her, but once he figured out she wasn’t using birth control, he sodomized her.

What part of that isn’t rape?

Why do so many in Hollywood think that they are exempt from the rule of law?  Forget Lindsey Lohan!  Look how many came to Polanski’s defense, including film mogul Harvey Weinstein, Woody Allen, Pedro Almodovar, Martin Scorsese, and Costa Gavras and signed a petition that expressed “stupefaction” at Polanski’s arrest.

The attitude over at the Huffington Post was: “Move on, everyone.  Nothing to see here.  Keep on directing, Roman.  Love ya!”

Let’s be clear here.  These people are so entitled that they have even stooped to defend a child rapist!  We at Concerned Women for America find this heinous and unacceptable, both that anyone would come to Polanski’s defense and that that the Swiss would refuse to allow him to stand trial in the United States for his crime.

When will Hollywood wake up to the fact that real America is becoming fed up with their outrageous behavior?  It’s sad when it’s Lindsey Lohan’s train wreck of a life, but it’s outright dangerous when their poison spills over to harm other people’s children.

Brutal Rapists and Serial Killers Find an Advocate in Obama’s Latest Pick

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Do you ever wonder WHO those insane judges are that believe sexual predators are only sick and should thus not be given maximum sentences?  I think those judges are unfit to rule.  However, President Obama apparently wants to give one a promotion.

Michael Ross, in a documentary on serial killers, describes how he tied up 14-year-old Leslie Shelley, put her in the trunk of his car, and “took the other girl, April Bernaise [also 14] out and I raped her, and killed her, and I put her in the front seat.”  He said he killed eight girls, ages 14-25, and if he wasn’t caught, he’d still be killing.

It was of this man that Robert Chatigny, a U.S. District Judge in Connecticut, said: “[Michael Ross] never should have been convicted.  Or if convicted, he never should have been sentenced to death.”  Then Chatigny fought to stop Mr. Ross’ execution — twice — and was both times overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Robert Chatigny is President Obama’s latest nominee to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, a lifetime appointment spot and can be a stepping stone to the Supreme Court (the 3nd Circuit is where Justice Alito once sat).  If President Obama thinks his nominees are all fine and good, then why shouldn’t the American people?  Obviously for lots of reasons.

To even think of a judge sitting on one of the highest courts in the land who so clearly sides with a serial killer and rapist rather than with the women — or merely the facts of the case — is nauseating.

Chatigny was grilled by Republican Senators recently in his Judiciary Committee hearing.  Only one Democrat Senator showed up, and she asked no hard questions of the rapist defender.  Here’s a shocking video from the hearing, interspersed with an interview from Michael Ross himself on how he killed and raped his victims.

President Obama needs to withdraw Robert Chatigny’s nomination immediately.  I truly hope that the feminist groups join in CWA’s opposition to this nominee.  Anyone who claims to defend women has a responsibility to join us!  Contact your Senators and tell them to vote “NO” on Chatigny’s confirmation.
