Obama Administration Catering to Homosexual Activists on “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” Repeal Compromise

Last night the Obama administration met with “gay rights” groups and reached a compromise on a possible repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

In the midst of two wars, President Obama, Congressional leaders, and homosexual activists have reached a dangerous compromise to impose their agenda on the hardworking men and women of the armed services. This “compromise” would repeal the 1993 statute but would not implement it immediately. It delays implementation until year-end when the Department of Defense (DOD) is due to report on what effect the repeal would have on the military. Thus Congress will have guaranteed the DOD report is completely irrelevant since its recommendations would have to be ignored.

Shari Rendall, Director of Legislation and Public Policy for Concerned Women for America, said, “This is President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Carl Levin determining that they know better than the Pentagon as to whether this will impact our troops’ readiness. Despite a letter from Admiral Mullen and Secretary Gates opposing changing the current law right now, the liberal Congressional leadership is imposing their will over the military’s readiness needs.”

Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women for America, said, “It is an outrage that President Obama is catering to special interest groups and forcing substantial changes on our military for purely political purposes. If Congress votes for this repeal, they will have to answer to the American people and our military men and women. So-called reforms that threaten military readiness and good order in a time of war are not just wrong but dangerous.”
