Dear Friend,
Despite support from only 39 percent of Americans, the Senate voted Saturday along party lines to push Senator Harry Reid's (D-Nevada) health care bill forward.
Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Arkansas), who is up for reelection in 2010, was the linchpin vote for the Democrats to move one step closer in their quest for a government takeover of our health care system.
The Senate will begin debate after Thanksgiving on this 2,074-page bill that will impose taxes on all Americans who fail to have "acceptable" health care coverage, while raising health insurance premiums on the 85 percent of Americans who already have health insurance.
It will also penalize married couples who jointly make $250,000 annually.
Reid's health care bill also funds abortions and fails to protect medical providers who object to performing procedures that violate their conscience. This legislation includes the phony Capps language, which uses gimmicks to try and hide the fact that the federal government will fund abortions instead of the bipartisan Stupak-Pitts-Ellsworth language that passed the House and will truly protect life.

2. The Senators listed below voted last year to ban funding abortion in the Indian Health Care Improvement Act. The Stupak Amendment to the health care bill does the same thing. Evan Bayh (Indiana)
Robert Byrd (West Virginia)
Robert Casey (Pennsylvania)
Tim Johnson (South Dakota)
Mary Landrieu (Louisiana)
Ben Nelson (Nebraska)
Mark Pryor (Arkansas)
Harry Reid (Nevada)
3. Please visit or call your Representatives and urge them to make sure that the Stupak Amendment is included in the final health care bill and to oppose any legislation which does not include it. You can use the zip code box at right to find their contact information, or visit http://capwiz.com/cwfa/dbq/officials/.
Sincerely,

Wendy Wright
