Dear Friends,

This week the Senate will be voting on the controversial nomination of David Hamilton to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and could begin debate on the senate version of the health care bill. Your help on both of these issues is crucial!

1. David Hamilton is a liberal activist with a history of decisions which make him unfit to sit on a federal appellate court.

In 2005, Hamilton ordered the Speaker of the Indiana House to immediately stop the practice of "sectarian prayers" at the opening of the legislative session. He said that people "should refrain from using Christ's name or title" but later said that praying in the name of Allah would probably be okay.

He blocked a parental consent law that had been upheld by the Supreme Court, and has been soft on child predators.

Hamilton was a board member of the Indiana chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and was a fundraiser for the discredited liberal activist group ACORN.

Act: Please call your Senators today at 202-224-3121 and urge them to oppose "cloture" and to vote against David Hamilton.

2. Last week, Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-California) rammed her health care bill through the House late Saturday night.

Shortly after, Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada) used a Senate procedure to get the health care bill on the Senate calendar. This, despite the fact that Senator Reid has yet to let anyone - including other Senators - know what is in his bill or the costs.

This legislation will result in government bureaucrats making important medical decisions and will likely fund abortions - something we cannot allow.

Act: We must come together to stop this Washington takeover of our health care. Please join millions of Americans across the country and call your Senators at 202-224-3121 on Wednesday, November 18 between 12:00-3:00 pm Eastern time to tell them we do not want the government in charge of our health care system. Please also tell them to include the Stupak amendment that will prevent the government from funding abortion and to vote against proceeding to any bill without it.

Sincerely,

Wendy Wright

President
