Dear Friends,

Pelosi is demanding that Congress vote this weekend on her health care bill. We need to flood the House with calls so that there is no doubt that Americans oppose this massive government takeover of our health care system.

America has the best overall health care in the world. Most of the medical advances occur in America, including 90 percent of the research and development of new drugs. That is why over 400,000 foreigners come to this country for treatment.

Yet the Pelosi liberals want to make us just like Great Britain and Canada and other countries with socialized medicine which have far worse survival rates for diseases like cancer. For example, for all cancers, in America the five-year survival rate is 66 percent for men and 64 percent for women. Comparatively, in Europe, those numbers are 47 percent and 55 percent. For breast cancer, the survival rate is 90 percent for Americans and 79 percent for Europeans. The reasons for this difference? Early diagnosis and treatment. Under Pelosi health care, we can be assured of delayed and denied treatment!

And, a key issue keeping Pelosi health care from becoming a reality is abortion. There are 40 Blue Dog Democrats who do not want the federal government to fund abortions. Pelosi's bill currently funds abortion. The Democrat leadership is working feverishly on an amendment to be offered by Representatives Brad Ellsworth (D-Indiana) and Rosa DeLauro (D-Connecticut) that will still fund abortions but would peel away some of the Blue Dogs and get them to support the health care bill. This amendment is not a fix - it will fund abortions.

Action:

1. Please call your Representative at 202-225-3121 and urge them to vote against the "Rule" if it does not allow the Stupak/Pitts Amendment to be considered. The Stupak/Pitts Amendment is the only one that will ensure that the federal government does not fund abortions.

2. Please tell your Representative to vote against the health care bill.

3. Please forward this e-mail to five of your friends and family and encourage them to act. We will only succeed if everyone gets involved!
