President Obama promised that the health care negotiations would be televised on CSPAN.  Americans should be able to see who was making arguments on behalf of their constituents and who for the drug companies or insurance companies, he said.  But that was during the campaign. Now, Senator Reid (D-Nevada), Representative Pelosi (D-California), and President Obama are negotiating behind closed doors.

No reporters. No cameras. No Republicans. No transparency with Americans who will be affected by this government takeover of one-sixth of our economy.

And, boy, will it affect us.

At a time where 89 percent of Americans like their health care coverage, the Democrats’ health care bills will be a disaster for seniors, families, and small businesses.

Evidence:

·         The Democrat health care plan will create $800 billion in new taxes, destroy 5.5 million jobs, and according to the Lewin Group could cause 114 million Americans to lose their health insurance.

·         The government takeover of health care could cause health care premiums for a family of four to increase by more than $4,500 according to the Heritage Foundation.

·         The Democrat health care plan according to FreedomWorks cuts $500 billion in Medicare spending, including over $130 billion in cuts to Medicare Advantage and nearly $120 billion in Medicare cuts for hospitals that care for seniors. 

Action:

Please tell your Representative and your Senators (call them at 202-224-3121) to oppose a government takeover of our health care.  Tell them we cannot afford health care reform that will hurt American families and undermine the best health care system in the world.
