Join the D.C. Rally for Marriage |
 |
Officials in the District of Columbia want to ignore residents. The City Council plans to impose same-sex "marriage" on the District of Columbia - the seat of the federal government - and deny citizens in D.C. the right to vote to protect marriage as one man and one woman.
Don't let D.C. council members muzzle our voices! Join The People's Rally for Marriage on Sunday, October 25, at Freedom Plaza (1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.) from 3-5p.m.
After the rally, Bishop Harry Jackson and other pastors and leaders will lead prayer and worship at Hope Christian Church from 7-9p.m. Hope Christian Church is located at 6251 Ammendale Rd., Beltsville, Maryland 20705. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Marcus Harris or Katherine Nelson, or call 240-845-0388.
Hearings will be held on Monday, October 26. Having a presence at these hearings is crucial to our efforts to defend marriage between one man and one woman.
The first hearing will be at 10a.m. at the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics building, located at 441 4th Street, N.W. This hearing will determine if the "Marriage Initiative of 2009" is legitimate legislation and if the issue will be allowed on the ballot for people to cast their vote.
At least 300 witnesses are needed to sign-up to testify before the D.C. Board of Elections & Ethics. It is imperative that you contact the D.C. Board of Elections & Ethics at (202)727-2194 or by e-mail at ogc@dcboee.org, to notify them that you would like to testify in favor of the "Marriage Initiative of 2009."
The second hearing will be held at 3:30p.m. on Monday, October 26, at the Floor Council Chambers in the John A. Wilson Building, Room 500, at 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. This hearing will allow people to respond to Bill 18-482, Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Equality Amendment Act of 2009, which would allow same-sex "marriage."
To participate in this hearing, please contact Miss Deborah Kelly, Legislative Clerk, at (202) 724-7808, or e-mail dkelly@dccouncil.us, and provide your name and contact information by close of business on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Miss Kelly is also accepting written testimonies for submission to the Councilmen prior to the hearings. Individual time to testify is limited to three minutes. Written testimonies will be included in the official record if submitted before the deadline of 5p.m., November 9, 2009.
Please stand with us as we stand for marriage on October 25 and 26 in the District of Columbia.
Thank you,
