Dear Friends,
Congressmen are feeling the heat of the August recess. People are fired up like we've never seen before - because Congress is acting more irresponsible than it ever has before. And town hall meetings have become a good place to hold tea parties.
Of all the legislation goading people, the health care takeover is the most dangerous. It will hand to government bureaucrats the power to decide who will get treatment - literally, who will live and who will die. Lessons from other countries with socialized medicine should be enough to stop Congress in its misguided tracks. But the lure of power over people is intoxicating, especially when cloaked in the compassionate belief that it will help others.
We need to rip that cloak off and expose the health care bill for what it truly is - a massive takeover that grants government the power over life and death of innocent citizens.
This August, visit your congressman and senators. At a town hall meeting, or at their district office, respectfully urge them to oppose the health care takeover.
To prepare for your visit, simply go to http://www.cwfa.org/articles/17160/CWA/freedom/index.htm. That page has a wealth of articles on the health care bills.
Additionally, here are some questions you could ask:
- Without an explicit exclusion for abortion, a bureaucrat or judge will say it covers abortion. Will you oppose a bill that does not exclude abortion coverage or funding for abortion?
- Congress and federal employees can decide what insurance plan they want. But the health care bills empower government boards and bureaucrats to decide what my insurance plan must be. Will you support a reform bill that lets me decide what insurance I can have?
- Many women are pressured to abort their babies, especially when the baby is diagnosed with a health problem. If abortion is covered in the government plan, make no mistake, bureaucrats will decide that abortion is more cost effective than treatment or delivery. This will lead to bureaucrats deciding for women that the government will pay for her abortion but not delivery or treatment for her child. Will you support excluding abortion coverage from the health care bills?
- If every person in America is required to have health insurance or else they get fined, what happens if they can't pay the fine? Will bureaucrats have the power to decide what happens to them? If a family cannot afford the government insurance or the fine, can a government agent - like the IRS - garnish their wages, put a lien on their house, and even throw them in jail? If not, where in the bill does it protect individuals from government abuses?
- President Obama's health czar Ezekiel Emanuel said medical care should not go to those "who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens" and defends discriminating against the elderly. Would you trust your families' health care decisions to them? Would you let them make health care decisions for your grandmother?
- The House bill compels seniors to undergo "counseling" on end-of-life care. Obama's czars are focused on cost cutting and rationing. The harsh reality is that a dead patient costs less than a live patient. Will you oppose any health care bill that promotes euthanasia?
- Congress and federal employees have gold-plated insurance plans. If you support a public option or a co-op for the rest of us, will you enroll your family in it?
Thank you,

Wendy Wright
President
