During the August recess, it is crucial that you meet with your legislators and urge them to protect true abstinence-only education funding.
While Congress passed a 3-month extension to extend Title V until September 30, 2007, liberals are stealthily trying to kill abstinence education funding.
Before adjourning, the House voted to extend Title V for an additional two years, as a part of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) bill. This legislation made serious changes to the guidelines, which effectively changes Title V into another opportunity to fund comprehensive sex education. The Senate SCHIP bill did not contain abstinence education funding so the bills will need to be reconciled when Congress reconvenes. Please tell your Members of Congress to preserve Title V in its current form.
