Dear Friends,

Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 26, Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada) will bring to the Senate floor a motion to proceed on so-called Comprehensive Immigration Reform (S. 1639).

Please contact your Senators right away and let them know that you want them to vote no on the motion to proceed to the Senate vote.  Your Senators’ votes are crucial to killing this legislation!! Let them know that a vote to proceed is a vote for lax border security and is just as bad as voting in favor of final passage.

The process tomorrow circumvents normal floor procedures.  A vote to proceed tomorrow guarantees that any negotiations to amend this legislation will be done by the “grand bargainers” with a predetermined outcome.  Your Senator holds the key to whether this bill moves forward!

CWA firmly believes that our government’s first priority is to develop and maintain strong border controls to protect us from foreign terrorists and the flow of illegal immigration.  The so-called “new” comprehensive reform legislation simply does not do this, no matter how loudly proponents of this bill say otherwise.  This bill is nothing more than a shell game that does not protect our borders!

Please call your Senators now at 202-224-3121 and tell them to vote against allowing S. 1639 to proceed to the Senate floor.  A vote to allow this bill to proceed is a vote for open borders!! Your calls are critical to defeat this bill and to ensure the establishment of sound immigration policy for the United States!

Sincerely,

The Legislation Department

P.S.   How the following Senators vote on tomorrow’s motion will determine America’s border security:  Bennett (R-Utah), Bond (R-Missouri), Bingaman (D-New Mexico), Burr (R-North Carolina), Boxer (D-California), Coleman (R-Minnesota), Cochran (R-Mississippi), Conrad (D-North Dakota), Ensign (R-Nevada), Levin (D-Michigan), Nelson, Ben (D-Nebraska), Hatch (R-Utah), Webb (D-Virginia).

P.P.S. As always, we thank you for also considering CWA for your strategic financial support. With you, we're fighting on key issues like "gay marriage," abstinence, pornography and abortion. We need you. If you can help us today, please go to http://www.cwfa.org/support_cwa.asp and enter your most generous donation.
