One of the most crucial pieces of pro-life legislation in the 109th Congress - The Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act (H.R. 6099) - is expected to be voted on next week, and your help is needed to ensure that this important bill passes the House of Representatives by a strong margin. Concerned Women for America (CWA) strongly supports H.R. 6099, which would require abortion providers to inform women considering an abortion about the severe pain that their unborn child will undergo in the procedure. It would also require that the woman receiving an abortion either request or refuse anesthesia for the unborn child during the procedure if the child is past the 20th week of development. Studies have shown that unborn babies, past the 20th week of gestation experience severe pain during the abortion procedure. According to strict federal humane slaughter and animal welfare laws, animals being killed for various purposes must experience a pain-free death. H.R. 6099 highlights the tragic gap in the law which requires that animals experience pain-free deaths while no regard or concern is shown for the remarkable pain that unborn children undergo in an abortion procedure. The Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act is authored by Representative Chris Smith (R-New Jersey, 4th) and has 93 co-sponsors. Don't let this important bill go unnoticed and unsupported in the House, contact your Representative today! Take Action!
